In the heart of B.C., the Cariboo, you will find Horsefly close to Williams Lake (72 Km, a 45 min drive) Geographically Horsefly is situated in the foothills of the Cariboo Mountains and offers spectacular views as you drive into the village, approx 50 km (paved) from 150 Mile House on Highway 97.

The Cariboo district is the cattle country. After the forest industry, tourism is the second important business factor followed by agriculture.Present day Horsefly has a population of approximately l000 people who enjoy a quiet, rural lifestyle where everyone knows their neighbour and works together.Horsefly is a wonderful little community. Well known not only in the area for it’s great recreational possibilities. It’s history goes back to 1859 when here the first gold was discovered in the Cariboo. Horsefly is part of the now well promoted “Gold Rush Trail”. Today forestry, tourism and ranching are the main income resources.

Horsefly has it’s own post office, as well as a school and different stores.

Driving Directions:

Here below the directions in writing:
Just north of the village of 150 mile House and ca. 14 km south of Williams Lake on Hwy 97 there is a turn off. At and before the junction watch for blue signs saying “Lake Resorts” turn there (left if coming from Williams Lake or right if coming from 100 Mile House) on to Likely Road. After a few km coming to a Y , be careful to take the right fork now called Horsefly Road (Likely Road goes left) and keep going east for approxm. 38 km to Horsefly. Staying on Horsefly Road enjoy the scenery.  You cannot miss Horsefly as Horsefly Rd. gets you right down town Horsefly. From the junction at Hwy. 97 it’s about a 35 min drive to Horsefly.
