Horsefly River Salmon Festival

Join Us at River Park to celebrate the returning Sockeye Salmon

Saturday 10:00am to 4:00pm – Sunday 10:00am to 3:00pm

A family and pet friendly community event held at Horsefly River Park.

  • Talk with knowledgeable local river Interpreters on hand to answer your watershed questions.
  • View Sockeye Salmon spawning live on the big screen via an underwater salmon cam.
  • Participate in fish dissection to find out more about the inner workings of sockeye salmon.
  • Visit Department of Fisheries and Oceans kiosk to learn about the Horsefly Sockeye Salmon Life-cycle.
  • Take part in Arts & Crafts for children of all ages, including Gyotaku — traditional Japanese fish painting.
  • Follow our accessible Salmon Habitat Trail to spawning channels and fill out your free Salmon Passport.  
  • Listen to local musicians by the river, talk with local vendors and eat great local food.
  • Talk with Invasive Species Council of BC, Cariboo Conservation Society, Tolko, EDI and the Quesnel River Research Centre about their engagement and work in our Fisheries Sensitive watershed.
